China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center(CBIATC), formerly “International Acupuncture Class”,
was established in 1975 at the suggestion of some international
organizations such as World Health Organization (WHO) etc., with
agreement of the State Council and approval of the Ministry of Health,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Economics and Trade.
Under the leadership of Chinese government, China Academy of Chinese
Medical Sciences (CACMS), it has developed into an authoritative
organization of acupuncture training that is well known in the world in
past 44 years.
More than 44 years ago, many foreign friends expressed their wishes to
study acupuncture in China. The Chinese Ministry of Health, Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Economics and Trade asked the
State Council for guidelines to run an acupuncture training course for
foreign doctors in August 2, 1974. With agreement of the State Council
and approval of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
Ministry of Foreign Economics and Trade, “International Acupuncture
Class” was formally established in April 1975, it was attached to
Acupuncture Institute of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It
was acknowledged as an International Acupuncture Training by the United
Nations Development Programs. With international spreading and
developing of acupuncture, “International Acupuncture Class” could not
adapt the fact that more and more foreign medical workers had stronger
desire to study acupuncture. According to File 281 of the China Ministry
of Health in 1983, “China Beijing International Acupuncture Training
Center (CBIATC)” came into use. In past 44 years, China Beijing
International Acupuncture Training Center Aimed at spreading theories
and clinical practice of acupuncture and moxibustion, traditional
Chinese medicine to medical workers all over the world, has provided
training in acupuncture, Chinese medicine, Qigong etc. for more than 100
countries and regions. Since 1983, Acupuncture Institute has been
confirmed as WHO Collaborating Center of Traditional Medicine
(Acupuncture and Moxibustion), as one department of Collaborating
Center, China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center has
successfully fulfilled the task given by WHO: “to perfect methods for
training in acupuncture and to provide training opportunities for
foreign students”.
